MDS Helps Your Team Stay on the Job!

At MDS Associates, our goal is to see every worker go home safely every day. This generally means providing best-in-class P.P.E. (Personal Protection Equipment) to reduce or eliminate on-the-job injuries that lead to worker's compensation and increased insurance rates. As the saying goes, availability is often one’s best ability.

At times, however, this issue becomes more than one of protection and becomes one of compliance. When you combine government agency safety regulations with safety requirements of local officials or the general contractor, things can get, well, complicated.

The Situation

MDS was recently contacted by a long-time customer who has a drywall finishing business. They successfully bid on a job to help finish space for a major online retailer with warehouse and shipping operations. Finishing drywall requires using a razor knife to score the drywall where it needs to be cut.

The job started well enough, with our customer’s team using appropriately ANSI Rated cut resistant gloves provided by MDS. The team communicated well also, as the innovative gloves in use also had touchscreen compatibility.

The Problem

On day two, the general contractor's safety inspector came to the work site and added the requirement that the drywall finishers also wear cut resistant sleeve protectors. After a lengthy discussion about the terms of the contract, the decision was final – be back on the job by the end of the week with sleeves on the workers, or they were off the job.

As their safety partner, their first call was to MDS. They placed a rush order for cut-resistant sleeves they had used previously. But there was another problem…given the volume required, lead time would be 3-4 weeks. Completely unacceptable for this situation.

Our Solution

MDS Associates’ customer service team went to work. Within about an hour, we had identified another high-quality option from an alternative vendor. And there was immediate inventory available.

Working in conjunction with our vendor, we were able to have the cut-resistant sleeves drop shipped overnight to our customer. The sleeves arrived the next day; our customer’s team was in compliance and able to stay on the job.

MDS relied on years of experience and vast network of P.P.E. contacts to not only protect our customer’s team, we helped save the job! And the income that pays their salaries!

At MDS, we are a true partner who provides solutions for your safety issues. We go above and beyond to address your safety needs – whether that is simply keeping your team safe or meeting compliance regulations.
