Supera Flame-Resistant Work Jacket Protects Against Cuts, Sparks & Slag

Protecting the Hands is Essential but Stopping at the Wrist Leaves Workers Vulnerable. That is Where Supera™ CAJKCXFR Flame and Cut-Resistant Body Apparel Can Elevate Compliance & ComfortAn image of Superior Glove Cut-Resistant Work Safety Jacket

Hot work such as welding is a demanding occupation filled with unsuspecting hazards. Everyday professional welders face a variety of workplace hazards such as intense heat, molten metal, toxic fumes/vapors, dangerous gases, bright ultraviolet light, and the risk of fire or explosion.

THE STATS

In fact, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, more than 560,000 welding accidents occur annually in the U.S, amounting to $467 million in annual injury compensation.

WELDING RELATED RISKS

Sparks and hot slag (droplets of molten metal) are the leading causes of welding-related fires and are produced during hot work (welding, cutting, or grinding) often exceeding 2500°F (1370°C) and pose severe ignition and burn risks that require strict and specific PPE to protect personal safety.

RERSONAL SAFETY APPAREL

With growing demand for welders across the U.S., the proper PPE is critical to maximize productivity and protecting the health and wellness of your team.

According to OSHA, protection from sparks and slag must be provided and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as welding gloves and flame-resistant (FR) apparel must be selected to protect the worker from these hazards (29 CFR 1915.152).

OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS

  • Unseen Ignition: Sparks and slag can easily pass through cracks, crevices, and gaps in floors or walls, igniting hidden, smoldering fires in adjacent rooms or concealed spaces
  • Combustible Materials: Any flammable solids, liquids, or gases (e.g., wood, cardboard, gasoline, and acetylene) within a 35-foot radius can explode or ignite.
  • Thermal Burns: Droplets of molten metal can easily cause severe skin burns and ignite clothing
  • Explosions: Slag or sparks landing on or entering closed containers, drums, or piping that previously held flammable substances can lead to catastrophic explosions

These workplace risks create serious occupational health risks that require clear understanding and proper protective measures such as PPE. Wearing the proper flame-resistant PPE Such as +Supera™ CAJKCXFR FR jacket for hot work applications will protect the working welder from illness and injury during operations.

CONTINUAL BARRIER PROTECTION

It is easy to think of hand protection in isolation, but workers frequently engage with materials or tools that contact with other parts of the body. Engineering industrial work gloves since 1910, Superior Glove® offers a wide spectrum of specialized hand protection for welders. Recently the company has announced the launch of the Supera™ CAJKCXFR which complements their portfolio of specialized welding gloves.

Featuring attractive styling and a zipper front closure, the inherently fire-resistant Supera® CAJKCXFR work jacket combines upper body cut resistance and body protection against sparks and slag. The 10 oz fabric, made with proprietary ParaActiv™ engineered yarn, offers dual-hazard 360° ANSI A6 rated cut protection and meets ASTM D6413 vertical flame resistance standards for protection from the collar to the waist and down the arms. Available in sizes S – 3XL, the Supera FR jacket can be washed and tumbled dry.
