PIP® 9150-40PYR PYRAD® 40 Cal, Category 4 Arc Flash Kit

Designed to meet Hazard Risk Category 4 Requirements

Bring greater comfort to demanding electrical work with the PIP 9150-40PYR arc flash kit. Featuring PYRAD fabric by GORE-TEX Labs, this gray ensemble delivers a 40 cal/cm² ATPV rating and PPE Category 4 protection in a lightweight, breathable design.

Why Choose PYRAD Fabric?

Protective clothing should help workers move confidently. PYRAD combines three-layer laminate technology into a single ply. During arc exposure, the material develops a carbon-based char barrier that helps limit heat transfer toward the skin.

Compared with conventional, bulkier arc-rated materials, PYRAD offers a thinner construction and easier movement. PIP reports that this fabric is 20% lighter than competitive premium products—a specific comparison, rather than a claim that every traditional arc flash suit weighs 20% more.

• Less weight: Helps reduce the burden of wearing high-level arc protection.
• Breathable comfort: Supports moisture-vapor transfer for more comfortable wear during demanding tasks.
• Greater mobility: Less bulk makes reaching, bending and positioning easier.
• High arc protection: Maintains a 40 cal/cm² rating without relying on a bulky garment construction.

Ordinary workwear has no equivalent verified arc rating. The useful comparison is with other appropriately rated protective garments: PYRAD's advantage is its combination of protection, low weight and comfort.
